The Grass House is a conceptual weekend home in the desert environment near Joshua Tree National Park. The house is designed for outdoor living with a continuous folded plane that separates the house into living and sleeping pavilions. The resultant open faces of the pavilions have drop-away walls of glass which allow the house to be completely open to the outdoor. The exterior cladding of walls and the roof is integrated with the deck, using synthetic grass as a visual element that offers a stark contrast to the desert landscape as well as performs as a energy conserving material- by not requiring any watering!
