SPF:a is working with Maguire Properties to transform their recently acquired 17 acre Park Place complex – former headquarters of Fluor Corporation – into a high profile office campus with retail and residential amenities. Faced with the formidable task of creating a way finding and identity scheme for a chaotic cluster of six existing buildings (each with four floors of 50,000 SF floor plates) the design team took a radical approach: rather than add more building, the team has proposed removing large swaths of underutilized portions to create three separate inviting courtyards. Each Courtyard will have a unique personality, derived from the trees used in that space: olive, coral, and palm. This theme will extend to a perforated metal screen that covers all newly exposed floor plate.
