SPF:a is currently designing a unique, off-the-grid facility for UCLA in Malibu, California. Pursuing LEED Silver certification, the mobile structure contains a research laboratory, classroom, and outdoor presentation area. Photovoltaics will provide all necessary electricity for the facility, whose construction begins in 2008. the project takes advantage of Proposition 84 monies set aside for effective sustainable building projects in the UC school system.
