California Preservation Design Awards

Preservation Design Award Winner

“The California Preservation Foundation celebrates and recognizes exemplary work in historic preservation, restoration, rehabilitation, sustainability, studies, reports and other significant categories in the preservation field through the Preservation Design Awards.”

Morgan Phoa Library and Residence receives a Preservation Design Award for its successful building addition to the Los Feliz property. The project was a rare opportunity to restore and build onto a historically designated property originally designed by Wallace Neff and features an architecturally modern design of bronze anodized aluminum screen panels.

Some comments from the jurors include:

“From a preservation standpoint, it’s a labor of love; very impressive.”

“The effort to get all the amenities in there demonstrated the great job they did given the constraints.”

“It’s exquisite and an elegant solution. They respected the original building.”
