“Richardson stood back, waiting to see what the residents would create. He said the activity was more than an exercise in democracy, and that he wouldn’t be surprised if Monday’s workshop sparked a brilliant idea that made its way into the final plan.”

Rancho Design approved for DD

[SPF:a]’s winning scheme for the Rancho Cienega Sports Complex (RCSC) was finalized and approved for the design development phase.

Located in Baldwin Hills, the RCSC boasts a rich history and legacy: it has played an important role in the development of numerous professional athletes including Venus and Serena Williams, who trained there as children, and multiple NFL players who got their start with the Dorsey High football team – whose home games are hosted at this site. Last February, Studio Pali Fekete architects [SPF:a] was selected by the City of Los Angeles to envision the redevelopment and expansion of the RCSC with their winning design (developed in partnership with Hood Design Studio – landscape architects, and Buro Happold Engineering). [SPF:a] was selected over two other invited submissions and will overhaul the master plan of the existing RCSC and add a series of new buildings to the site.

SPF:a earns Architizer A+ Award

Alright… time to pop open the bubbly and lace up the dancing shoes. The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts has just been selected for an Architizer A+ Award, securing a prestigious spot in their upcoming Phaidon publication. We’re particularly touched to know that The Wallis nabbed the Popular Choice Award, chosen by the Architizer’s community of 1,000,000+ professionals, artists, and fans. It’s a friendly thumbs up from the architecture community at large, and that makes our hearts smile. We can’t wait to attend the awards Gala during NYC’s Design Week!

More Wins for Wallis!

It feels good when a project we poured so much love into gets recognized.

The Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts has won multiple awards recently, including the Los Angeles Conservancy Preservation award. This honor means so much to us because at every stage of the process we held preserving (and complimenting) the character of the Beverly Hills Post Office as our most sacred task.

And just when we thought we couldn’t get any happier, we found out the Wallis also won ENR Magazine’s national award for Best of the Best in the Cultural/Worship category. We are honored, humbled, and so happy!
