Completed in 1999, The Virgin Megastore at Disney World was part of the larger Downtown Disney Master Plan. The design of this flagship Virgin Megastore was modeled on the Royal Alpert Hall in London. The store interior contains 60,000 square feet of video, audio, and graphic simulation.
The forty-five foot high freestanding building addresses a large flow of pedestrian traffic with a signature corner entrance. The entrance canopy is a vertical moving stage used for weekly music performances. The building is designed within the existing 30,000 SF footprint to create an urban street wall within the faux urban village. The finished budget for this project was $17 Million.
