134,000 sf Renovation, 76,000 sf New Construction

The Getty Villa Museum renovation consisted of several smaller projects - museum, Getty Conservation Institute, and Visitor Center - which combine to make up a 210,000-square foot renovation and addition project for the J. Paul Getty Trust in Malibu, CA. SPF:a renovated 100,000 square feet of existing gallery space, repurposing the space for new types of exhibits, and opening up the circulation flow to improve visitor access to the galleries. In the North Campus, the architect added over 50,000-square feet of new office, laboratory, and food service spaces for the Getty Conservation Institute, and the new entry sequence to the museum included an outdoor amphitheater, library, gift shop, and café. The renovation also included the addition of visitor and staff parking structures.
