Rancho Cienega Sports Complex Officially Breaks Ground

Construction on the expanded Rancho Cienega Sports Complex (RCSC) is now fully underway, after an official groundbreaking celebration held last Thursday at the Baldwin Hills site. Led by LA City Council President Herb Wesson, the ceremony was attended by SPF:a and project contractors Penner Construction, as well as various school and city representatives, including LA lead City Engineer Gary Lee Moore.
We were awarded the project in 2015, following a city-sponsored design competition and have since been working closely with the RCSC, Los Angeles government agencies, and the local community to redevelop the legendary 29-acre park. New additions will comprise a 23,000-square-foot pool facility, a 16,000-square-foot basketball gymnasium, a partially enclosed raised walking track, two overlook seating areas for the tennis center and stadium, and an enclosed garden for the existing community building.
The existing facility will continue to be operational throughout construction, which is expected to be completed in 2020.
